WHY DO I TEACH?

TO HELP UNLOCK POTENTIAL
my teachers guided me towards a future I never imagined and helped me see what service teachers truly provide to their students. being a teacher is about cultivating young adults and setting them up for the rest of their lives through the medium of which your subject lies.

TO EXPAND STUDENTS' REALMS
music can, by its very nature, allow students to grow and change. it can act as a spotlight for societal critique, allow for personal expression, and also make for entertaining interludes in everyday life! music is so often thought of from the perspective of performance, and so other spheres of music are often forgotten. guiding students through these roles of music in society can give purpose to music in the eyes of all students!

TO CULTIVATE A CULTURE OF CURIOSITY
experiences with music allow students to find their place in our society and culture, and foster both personal and interpersonal developments. students should want to explore these ideas of the self, and I want to help students explore these through music.
HORN: a space for development as a performer, my horn lessons place great emphasis on the development of "pedagogical expression." by accessing the knowledge base of a holistic musician, my lessons aim to develop an independent and unique musical voice for my students to employ expressively in their performance. lessons also consult fundamental technique for effective horn playing.

COMPOSITION: I believe firmly that anyone has the creative capacity to be a composer. my composition lessons encourage risk-taking in the development of the compositional voice, studying and employing ideas students may not have previously experienced in pursuit of a unique voice and contribution to the musical world.
